Sanmina-SCI's Wilmington PCB Plant Certified as Key Military Supplier

May 22, 2003

San Jose, CA, (May 21, 2003) Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM - News), a leading global electronics contract manufacturer and high performance printed circuit board (PCB) fabricator, today announced its PCB plant in Wilmington, Mass., has successfully completed certification and qualification assessment by the DSCC (Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio). The facility meets all the requirements necessary for certification to MIL-PRF-31032 and has also obtained qualification for military specification MIL-PRF-31032/1A and /2 for Type 3, GF (Epoxy-FR4) and GI Polyimide) effective May 1, 2003. This qualification allows Sanmina-SCI's technology and volume capabilities to be accessed by defense and aerospace customers. Qualification to MIL-PRF-31032 further allows the Wilmington facility to produce product to MIL-PRF-55110 through the reciprocal certification clause in Appendix B of MIL-PRF-55110F.

"This certification to MIL-PRF-31032 shows our continuing support to supply the highest technology products possible to our customers," said David Mersereau, V.P. Eastern Region. "It also brings new horizons to the Wilmington facility. We are very pleased to achieve this difficult level of qualification for our existing and future customers. The facility has been surveyed by several leading military contractors and this certification completes the process for new business development."

"Achieving this certification not only allows us to manufacture high technology products for the Defense market, it again shows that we are committed to continuously improving our systems for all of our customers," said John B. Adams, Director of Quality Assurance.

In addition to the Wilmington facility, Sanmina-SCI's Costa Mesa, Calif., facility is also certified to MIL PRF 31032 and its Phoenix, Ariz., facility is certified to MIL PRF 55110, with plans to obtain MIL PRF 31032 certification.

"This certification now gives Sanmina-SCI three PCB plants with Military Certification and confirms our commitment to providing the Military/Defense and Aerospace marketplace with maximum flexibility and range of Advanced Interconnect Technologies," said Jason Chamberlain, Senior Vice President of Sanmina-SCI's Defense and Aerospace Systems. "It also provides our customers in this market the convenience of both East and West Coast manufacturing options."

The Defense Supply Center located in Columbus, Ohio (DSCC) is the largest supplier of weapon systems spare parts and end items for the Department of Defense. To be certified, products must be manufactured in the United States and pass stringent laboratory analysis. Specific product characteristics are published by DSCC in its Quality Manufacturers List (QML). Further information can be obtained via their website at http://www.dscc.dla.mil.
