Statware Introduces Web-Based Toolset to Build Process Optimization Systems Tailored for Semiconductor Manufacturers

Application developers and OEMs can use toolset to provide customized solutions for remote eDiagnostics, SPC, COO, APC to their customers

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA-July 16, 2001-Statware, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Electroglas, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGLS), today at SEMICON West introduces a web-based toolset that allows application developers and OEMs to effectively create customized process optimization systems or integrate web-based monitoring, analysis, and alarming capabilities into existing applications. The toolset, called Statit, gives application developers and OEMs full access to an extensible computational engine with an extensive suite of highly customizable graphics and statistical analysis methods, Web publishing capabilities and dynamic Web reporting functionality.

"So-called point solutions are giving way to integrated systems where the ultimate solution is addressed by a marriage of the 'best-of-breed' products. With the Statit toolset, developers and OEMs can unite proven capabilities with their products and applications, not only increasing strategic value, but as well, truly giving their customers the ultimate solution for process optimization," said Tom Simas, Strategic Business Manager, Statware, Inc. "And, they can do so with a flexible solution that can scale and grow as users reap the benefits of applying process optimization analysis to their operations."

Statware has been providing web-based process optimization tools from application developers and OEMs in manufacturing and health care industries since 1997, and is now focusing efforts to provide solutions for the semiconductor market segment. This comes as a result of their acquisition in January of 2001 by Electroglas, a leading supplier of process management tools for semiconductor manufacturers.

Current Statware customers are using the Statit toolset to perform a wide range of process optimization functions. For example, Agilent Technologies is using the Statit toolset to assist its customers in improving first pass yields by providing access to and analysis of process-rich defect information. Their users are gaining greater insight into production processes, thereby reducing costs and increasing assembly yields. Another Statware customer, supply chain solution provider SeeCommerce, is enabling its users to visualize, synchronize and continually improve their global supply chains by using Web-centric applications to measure and manage performance. According to Parviz Hooman, SeeCommerce's senior vice president of research and development, "By integrating the Statware product, we are able to provide our customers with additional choices for analyzing and presenting supply chain performance information in an intuitive and easy to understand format. Statware was the only company that could provide us with dynamically generated graphs to host in our Web-centric application, rather than static reports. Plus, the integration process was very easy - Statware provided great support."

To complement its products, Statware offers full service assistance that ranges from technical support for pre-purchase evaluations to on-site training, custom programming, and continued support after the software is installed. Flexible Statware partner programs are available and can include consulting and programming services. For more information on the Statware partner program or the Statit toolset, including live product demos and software downloads, visit http://www.statware.com, or contact Statware Sales at (541) 224-1000.
