Cogiscan Announces Corporate Agreement with Asteelflash

Apr 06, 2015

Cogiscan Inc., the leading track, trace and control solutions provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, is pleased to announce that the company has been selected as the main Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) provider for all Asteelflash plants worldwide. Asteelflash selected Cogiscan as its main MES as part of its global strategy to standardize all mission-critical software systems across the corporation. Asteelflash, an international electronics manufacturing services company (EMS), operates 20 manufacturing sites on four continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and North America).

Cogiscan Solution implementation is a key milestone in Asteelflash history as this will setup a high level standard and will bring to our customers the expected services,” commented Yves Gringuillard, Program Director Corporate at Asteelflash. “We really appreciated the cooperation between both companies to continuously improve the solution over the last 10 years.”

François Monette, co-president of Cogiscan added, “This is a very significant milestone because of the long history between our companies. This is a great example of the unique long-term partnerships that we form with our customers. When we started to work with Flash Electronics 10 years ago, both companies were much smaller. We have grown together and I am proud to know that we contributed to their success.”

After working for many years with a variety of MES systems in different sites, a direct result of multiple acquisitions, Asteelflash finally decided to standardize with a complete Cogiscan TTC solution. The Cogiscan system is an off-the-shelf MES specific to electronics manufacturing and it offers a high level of configurability and an open interface to accommodate specific customer needs. This approach solves the problem of having different and sometimes incompatible MES functions deployed in different sites. More importantly, it enables standardized manufacturing data, including traceability throughout all their plants. This allows Asteelflash the ability to seamlessly move production from one location to another. Additionally, the modular Cogiscan solution allows Asteelflash to easily adapt the system configuration per plant, per line, even per product, maximizing operational efficiency and costs.

Founded in 1999, Asteelflash operates 20 manufacturing sites on four continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and North America) with a headcount of more than 5,000 employees. Ranked among the top 15 EMS companies (Electronics Manufacturing Services) in the world, Asteelflash posted revenues of $804 million in 2013. The company offers comprehensive and integrated design and manufacturing services from initial product design to volume production including prototyping, direct order fulfillment and post deployment services. It delivers top-quality services thanks to the implementation of its "Asteelflash Excellence System", adapted to the special needs of its local, regional and global customers. In 2012, Asteelflash acquired Catalyst Manufacturing Services Inc., an American EMS company based on the East Coast of the United States and in Mexico. With the recent acquisition of ElectronicNetwork located in Germany and Eastern Europe, Asteelflash further enhances its proximity to its European customers and strengthens competitiveness on a worldwide scale.
