Juki Corporation and Cogiscan Introduce IFS-NX to the Worldwide Market

Jun 26, 2013

After several years of collaboration and joint development with Cogiscan, Juki Corporation recently released the latest version of its Intelligent Feeder System called IFS-NX. This new product is now available to all Juki customers worldwide.

IFS-NX is a modular and scalable system that provides key functions to optimize the overall component placement process around the Juki platform. The basic package includes component and feeder setup validation, offline and online, as well as material inventory management. Optional modules include Traceability, MSD Control and Maintenance Control to name a few. Since IFS is based on the Cogiscan TTC platform, it can seamlessly expand to a factory-wide Track, Trace and Control solution.

For approximately 10 years, Cogiscan has been working with Juki Automation Systems in Europe and the Americas. The IFS system originally was developed for these specific markets and proved to be very successful. Over the years, Juki Automation Systems sold and installed the IFS system at more than 100 customer sites. During this period many customers requested enhancements that were added to the standard IFS, allowing all other customers to benefit from this collective product improvement process. Additionally, many of these customers took advantage of the scalability of the Cogiscan TTC platform to expand the basic IFS package beyond the Juki platform.

This collaboration later expanded to the Juki headquarters in Japan. At this point, the IFS hardware and software is no longer a simple add-on, but is an integral part of the machine design. This allows further functionality to be developed, including random feeder setup among others. IFS-NX is now fully released and it is offered to all Juki customers worldwide. It represents a simple upgrade for existing IFS customers. For other Juki customers, this represents a huge potential to increase machine uptime and product quality.

Through its strategic partnership with Cogiscan, Juki offers the best software solution in the market because the scope of IFS-NX is not limited to the Juki platform. This allows customers to gradually expand to a more global software solution that can be integrated easily with other equipment and existing factory information systems, including leading MES and ERP.

Juki Corporation, founded in 1938, is a Japan-based comprehensive manufacturer with the worlds’ largest market share in the field of industrial sewing machines having the users in about 170 countries and regions. Nearly 6,500 employees are working in 20 countries and 120 locations including China, the United States, Singapore, Poland, Switzerland and Italy as well as Japan for the development, manufacture and distribution of industrial robots “pick-and-placers” placing electronics components on various PCBs and household sewing machines in addition to industrial sewing machines. The sales in fiscal 2012 amounted to US$758 million.
