Group Varitron Technologies, a leading EMS provider based in St-Hubert, Quebec, has entered into a long-term corporate agreement with Cogiscan, the leader in material control for the electronics manufacturing industry.

Varitron gradually will implement the complete suite of Cogiscan applications for a factory-wide TTC system from receiving to shipping across all of its factories. This investment includes TTC software and leading-edge RFID technology to automate the tracking and control of PCBs, components and tooling throughout the manufacturing process. Varitron will collaborate with Cogiscan to develop and test new TTC solutions in a real production environment.

Michel Farley, President of Varitron, said, “We believe that this technology provides tremendous value for our internal operations and for our customers.  We will differentiate our services by providing more visibility, control and traceability for each product that we build. Working closely with Cogiscan will enable us to stay one step ahead of the competition in this quest to deliver quality products at the lowest possible cost.”

Varitron already has implemented some Cogiscan modules for component and feeder setup validation - online and offline - on SIPLACE placement machines.  This solution integrates with the machine software to automatically transfer the feeder setup associated with each product. As an additional benefit, the Cogiscan software gathers critical machine data such as feeder pick events for real-time component consumption, low-level warnings and feeder maintenance.

Vincent Dubois, Co-President, Operations at Cogiscan, said, “This is a very significant win for Cogiscan because Varitron performed a rigorous evaluation by comparing multiple software solutions.  They looked at the alternative of developing this software internally and considered competitive products offered by their existing vendors, including machine suppliers, as well as NPI and ERP software suppliers. At the end of the day, this analysis confirmed our strong leadership and expertise in the area of material control. Varitron is committed to growing the business by using the best tools and systems available on the market. We look forward to a long and mutually successful relationship with Varitron.”

Based in St-Hubert, Québec, Group Varitron Technologies offers electronic manufacturing services in the telecommunications, aerospace, medical, military, energy and automotive industries. Cogiscan partners with leading equipment manufacturers and electronics assemblers to create solutions that can integrate with existing systems to provide factory-wide TTC solutions.
