High Mix SMD Pick+Place

Oct 15, 2004

The new FLX2010 SMD pick+place from ESSEMTEC offers the most flexible placement technology for today's high mix productions. The advantage of 190

feeders and the possibility of feeder changeover during operation allow a production with nearly no downtime. In a high mix production, speed is

normally not that important, however, the FLX2010 reaches a placement rate of 5'000 components per hour. The machine's precision drive technology enable the placement of advanced components such as 0201 or ultra fine pitch 0.3 mm. The machine features a combination of two different centring systems, laser and vision providing the best speed and accuracy mix for a flexible production. The extraordinary components range includes tall condensators (height up to 15 mm), large connectors and BGAs with 50 mm side length.

The integrated feeder management system automatically recognizes the feeders and pickup height. LEDs show the feeder status and notify the

operator if a minimum quantity is reached. The unique feeder setup control system based on barcode identification excludes the risk of setup failure and guarantees correct placement.

The complete machine programming can be prepared offline during the running production. CAD data in any format can be imported and the board is

graphically displayed before production. After loading the program in the pick+place, the placement can be controlled virtually before a single component is placed.

The Management Information System M.I.S. features stock management, production planning, simulation and data recording for traceability. This

optional software reduces the production cost, increases the productivity, minimizes the changeover and assures the quality.

The FLX2010 can be expanded to a FLX2020 (two modules) or a FLX2030 (three modules) production line. The additional modules enlarge the feeder

capacity (up to 300 feeders) and the increase production speed (up to 15'000 cph). The line is modular and the additional modules can be added in

the field to guarantee a 100% investment protection.
