Lynx – small form factor SMT assembly system.

Essemtec AG, the Swiss manufacturer of production systems for electronic assembly and packaging, will exhibit at booth #7.135 at SMT/HYBRID/PACKAGING, scheduled to take place May 5-7, 2015 in Nuremberg. Company representatives will demonstrate the latest generation of Paraquda pick-and-place system and Scorpion dispensing system. Other highlights will be the new SMT storage device Cubus Large and the new highly flexible and cost-effective pick-and-place system Lynx.

3-in-1 Multifunctional Center
Paraquda G2 is the world’s first machine that combines three different processes within one platform (jetting of solder paste, jetting of glue and placing of SMD components). The multifunctional center meets all requirements of a modern, highly flexible production system – quick changeover, intuitive operation and the combined usage of jet and/or needle valves. With this unique combination, the Paraquda G2 allows an unprecedented flexibility in the market. Being able to complete various processes with one machine eliminates the need of separate machines and reduces the investment costs dramatically. Set up is done directly from imported CAD data using an integrated medium library.

Plug & Play Quick Change System
At the show Essemtec will highlight its revolutionary quick change system for dispensing valves. The newly developed connector panel allows for easy and fast plug & play exchange of various dispensing valves. Up to 2 dispensing axis are mountable on Paraquda G2 and up to 4 on Scorpion G2. The quick change system provides an enormous advantage for companies with large production volumes – exchanging the same types of valves on the same axis for a high volume throughput can be realized within a few seconds. No disassembling of covers and pushing/pulling on sensitive machine parts is needed any longer.

Next-Generation SMT Storage System
Cubus innovates how SMT components are stored and provisioned for electronic manufacturing. For the first time, a storage device is fully user configurable and hence adapts to the dynamic manufacturing needs. There are no limitations in terms of reel sizes, reel widths or JEDEC trays. With its flexible shelf configuration, foolproof operation and easy line integration, it easily adapts to the ever-changing manufacturing environments. Thanks to its small footprint and high storage capacity (up to 932 reels), Cubus can be positioned close to any SMT manufacturing line. Cubus interfaces easily with pick-and-place machines and, thus, greatly reduces kitting time and errors as well as machine interruptions due to missing or misplaced material. Configure – Operate – Integrate!

New Small Form Factor SMT Assembly System
Lynx bridges the gap between the Pantera X-plus and Paraquda SMT placement systems. It is ideally suited for high-mix SMT production. With 180 feeder lanes on less than 0.9 sqm it offers the highest feeder density on the market. The systems’ very high component flexibility is combined with unique capabilities to accurately place 0201 components backed by the latest-generation digital camera, fast laser centering and image processing systems. With the addition of the user-friendly Essemtec software package, Essemtecs generally well-proven machine reliability and its low maintenance requirement, Lynx ensures steady and reliable flexible production, confirming its motto of “Optimize – Operate – Rely”.
