DIN Connectors Have All Applications Covered

Jun 17, 2003

The CECC-approved DIN EN60603-2 (DIN41612) Series from In2Connect is ideal for electronics equipment requiring reliable, yet inexpensive circuit board interconnection.

Available in Classes I, II and III, versatility is further enhanced by: a choice of between 15 and 96 press-fit (DIN41611 Part 5) or solder contacts; standard and reverse DIN options; mixed layout; and full or partial contact loading.

Dual leaf socket contacts ensure reliability, and protective "first mate last break" premate contacts and screw machined boardlocks can be included.

The DIN41612 and sister series DIN41617 are suitable for a wide range of applications.

Many bus systems use a common signal circuit which is "daisychained" through a succession of daughtercards.

This can create problems when "active" cards have to be removed from a system, because the signal path is broken and needs to be "jumpered" on the backplane.

An elegant and simple solution lies in the integration of a mechanical switching function into the connector.

This technique is not restricted to VMEbus, or pin in row switching.

A switching function can be placed between two adjacent pins in any B or C series full or half DIN connector, as well as between pins in parallel rows, thus providing solutions in Ethernet hubs and other networking applications In2Connect offers a range of VMEbus female connectors in styles B and C with integrated, custom configured switching functions.
