Aqueous Technologies to Demonstrate Trident Automatic Defluxing System and Zero-Ion Ionic Contamination (Cleanliness) Tester at Productronica 2009

Dec 07, 2009

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - September 2009 — Aqueous Technologies Corp. has today announced plans to highlight the next generation of the award-winning Automatic Defluxing System - Trident and the Zero-Ion Ionic Contamination (Cleanliness) Tester, at the upcoming Productronica exhibition - Hall A2 Stand 599. The event is scheduled to take place 10th – 13th November 2009 at the New Munich Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany.

Aqueous Technologies are also pleased to be joined throughout the event by representatives of their new German distributor, Multi Components. Michael Konrad, Aqueous Technologies’ president and CEO, confirmed: “We are pleased to bring the Trident Automatic Defluxing System to this important event in the industry calendar, as it represents a culmination of more than 20 years of batch-format defluxing equipment experience. Trident has been well received throughout the world since its launch last year and has already received several awards.”

The system is reportedly the fastest batch-format defluxing system available. Trident’s specific throughput rate is determined by board size. The system is capable of defluxing and cleanliness testing up to 200 101 x 152 mm boards and up to 28 457 x 508 mm boards per hour.

Konrad added: “Trident is the most flexible defluxing system available today.” The system offers several defluxing configurations designed to provide complete compatibility with all defluxing requirements. Trident’s defluxing process consists of up to five cycles including prewash, wash, rinse, cleanliness testing and drying. Prewash, if selected, may consist of a steam soak, high-pressure DI water spray, or chemical spray and soak. The wash cycle uses environmentally responsible defluxing solutions, neutralizing and solublizing flux and other residues. The rinse cycle is controlled by the built-in cleanliness tester in which rinse cycles are added or subtracted from the process automatically, based on the user’s selected cleanliness requirements. The dry cycle uses a unique combination of radiant and convection heat for rapid, thorough drying.

Equipped with an automatic chemical management system that automatically measures and doses concentrated defluxing chemicals into the wash-solution recirculation system, the wash solution is captured and reused, eliminating routine chemical discharge. Level gauges indicate the available levels of wash solution and concentrated chemical. Trident is also equipped with a unique inverse-mounted vertically oriented spray pump that virtually eliminates pump-caused dragout, lowering the volume of defluxing chemistry consumption and associated costs. Built-in statistical process control (SPC) data capturing technology allows users to view historical SPC data, including actual cleanliness results, both at the machine and remotely from other network-connected PCs.

Also being demonstrated is the highly popular Zero-Ion Ionic Contamination (Cleanliness) Tester, designed to test electronics assemblies for ionic contamination. It automatically removes and detects contamination on an electrical assembly or bare board and provides quantitative contamination measurements. The Zero-Ion uses a dynamic technology that provides automatic regeneration of the machine’s test solution, maintaining a high degree of test solution sensitivity. The Zero-Ion meets the requirements of military and commercial cleanliness testing standards including MIL 2000A, IPC test method 001, MIL-C-28809, MIL-P-55110 and IPC TM650-2.3.26.

The Zero-Ion has been reviewed by the U.S. Naval Air Weapons Center and determined to be the most sensitive ionic contamination tester available. The Zero-Ion also has been determined to be 3.7 times more sensitive than the manual resistivity of solvent extract (R.O.S.E.) test. The Zero-Ion performs cleanliness tests automatically and is capable of storing 50 test parameters within its internal controller. When connected to a PC via optional PC interface software, it is capable of storing virtually unlimited quantities of testing parameters and comes with built-in printer to record results.

The Aqueous Technologies team looks forward to welcoming visitors to Hall A2 Stand 599.
