Viscom announces that it has been awarded a 2017 NPI Award in the category of Test & Inspection – AOI for its 3D AOI system – S3088 ultra gold. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 ceremony that took place at the San Diego Convention Center during the IPC APEX EXPO. The S3088 ultra gold reaches image data rates of up to 3.6 gigapixels per second. The core of this system is the innovative high performance camera module XMplus with its outstanding, high throughput camera technology.

It features an impressive, individually configurable design that can cover the varying requirements from small series production to high-volume-low-mix manufacturing. The S3088 ultra gold has joined the system family as a top-of-the-line option.
The central innovation is the 3D camera module XMplus with more than 120 megapixels. This key element of the S3088 ultra gold is designed for one purpose: high performance. The image data rate is up to 3.6 gigapixels per second. In short, it takes everything the standard Viscom XM camera module offers and doubles it. The ideal relationship of high throughput and high resolution featured by this system has yet to meet its peer. The S3088 ultra gold also boasts an image field size of 50 x 50 mm and inspection speeds up to 65 cm2/s.
All variants of the S3088 ultra 3D AOI systems work with an integrated structured light projector. Fields of view from up to nine perspectives enable exact 3D analyses, with which lifted leads, chip coplanarity and many other critical defects are reliably detected. This also applies to 03015 components. The practical touchscreen operation and design for both vVision and EasyPro inspection software are additional features among all of the variants. The high-speed printed circuit board transport, known as Viscom FastFlow Handling, also is well-proven and therefore continuously integrated. With a width of just under 40" and a depth just over 60", the compact dimensions of the S3088 ultra gold are the same as of the S3088 ultra.
