Power and High Temperature Electronics Experience at SMTA International

Jul 14, 2014

The SMTA announced a new feature area that will debut during the SMTA International Electronics Exhibition: the “Power and High Temperature Electronics Manufacturing Experience.” This special feature will take place during both days of the SMTA International Exhibition at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois on September 30 - October 1, 2014

Many organizations have successfully produced electronic products for the high temperature and harsh environment markets for many years but there is little information on the practical issues in the public domain. The “Power and High Temperature Experience” aims to help engineers understand what is involved, what are the new materials and challenges plus the nuts and bolts assembly issues.

Dr. Chris Hunt and Bob Willis, National Physical Laboratory (UK), will present a free webinar on September 10 to give an overview of the different process technology, process defects and showcase the activity at SMTA International.

"SMTA International is a perfect pairing for this Experience because of the focused symposium dealing with Harsh Environments. For many engineers, this will be their first chance to find out about next generation materials, processes, reliability and all the equipment that makes it possible," explained Bob Willis, SMTA Feature Organizer. "It's a great opportunity to be part of a special Experience focusing on a growing market place pushing products to stand up to 200°C+ operating environment. Additionally, we want to showcase what people are doing today."

Companies that supply equipment, materials, or products for the high temperature and power electronics markets are welcome to partner with SMTA to showcase your products to attendees. To sign up or for further information contact Emmy Ross at (952) 920-7682 or emmy@smta.org.

Current supporting partners to date include ERSA, Indium Corporation, Inventec, and Petroferm.

Details of the Power and High Temperature Electronics Manufacturing Experience can be found at http://www.smta.org/smtai/HighTempExperience.cfm or contact SMTA Administrator JoAnn Stromberg: 952-920-7682 or joann@smta.org.

The SMTA membership is an international network of professionals who build skills, share practical experience and develop solutions in electronic assembly technologies, including microsystems, emerging technologies, and related business operations.
