SMTA Releases Affordable Online Training Course

Jun 04, 2014

The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) announced the recent release of their first online training course, Stencil Printing and Troubleshooting 101. The course will be useful for equipment operators and technicians who want to understand more about the printing process and who have a basic familiarity with the equipment.

Course topics include examples of print defects, an overview of the SMT process, solder paste, substrate-PCB, stencils, squeegee blades, printing equipment, printing parameters, process development and control, and defect prevention. Industry veteran Peter Biocca, Kester ITW, instructs the course while providing a basic understanding of stencil printing and troubleshooting processes. Major contributors to the materials were Rita Mohanty, Ph.D., Enthone Inc., S. Manian Ramkumar, Ph.D., Rochester Institute of Technology, and several other members of the SMTA Training Committee.

The SMTA Training Committee, led by Martin Anselm, Ph.D., Universal Instruments Corporation, is responsible for developing and reviewing course materials. Stencil Printing 101 is the first course to be released with several other topics planned for release in the coming months.
