IPC Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at ELECTROSUB 2017 in Budapest

Oct 26, 2017 | IPC, in conjunction with ELECTROSUB 2017, conducted the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at ELECTROSUB 2017 in Budapest, Hungary. The competition in Budapest drew the highest number of professional hand soldering competitors to date in Europe of 51. Unique to ELECTROSUB 2017 was an IPC HSC competition for high school students. The 16 high school competitors were not going to be out done by their older professional competitors as they put their best soldering techniques on display vying for cash prizes for first, second and third place. Taking first place in the high school competition with a cash prize of €30 was Mate Toth, Technical High School, Komarno, Slovakia. In second place with a cash prize of €20 went to Bence Marki, Palfy Water Management Technical High School, Szolnok, Hungary. Taking third place with a cash prize of €10 was Gilles Cumin, from Lajos Bardos Elementary School, Lagymanyos, Budapest, Hungary.

IPC Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at IFTEC in Paris

Oct 18, 2017 | IPC, in conjunction with IFTEC, conducted the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at IFTEC in Paris because the MIDEST exhibition, originally scheduled for October 2017 was moved to 2018. The competition was fierce as 33 competitors went soldering iron to soldering iron to take the hand soldering competition crown. Taking first place with a cash prize of €300 and a JBC Soldering Station was Catherine Cardinal-Simon from Thales Microelectronic in France, who earned 443 points out of a possible 446. Cardinal–Simon will now compete at the IPC World Championship Hand Soldering Competition located this year at productronica 2017 on 17 November.

PCB Prototype Sales Trends Often Diverge from PCB Market Trends According to New IPC Report

Oct 17, 2017 | A new report published this week by IPC, Trends in the North American Market for PCB Prototypes, reveals cycles in demand for PCB prototypes that often differ from demand trends in regular or volume-production PCB sales. Despite high volatility in prototype sales from month to month, the IPC data show clear cycles in prototype sales growth, year over year. Rigid PCB and flexible circuit prototype sales do not always reflect growth in the rigid PCB and flexible circuit markets overall.
