DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor

Jul 20, 2009 | DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor Btw, I think I have such a conversion box. If You are interested. Please tell me the exact configuration. For ex. is it really SMEMA on the DEK side and is it a SMPI interface on the other side? It is easy to tell, take a picture of the connector from the Universal side and post it here. I will tell you if it is SPMPI , Full SMPI (they are different) or SMEMA, or at least I will try to do it. Certainly it will be other here who can tell. A lot of small pins, let say ...

SMEMA compatability

Mar 30, 2004 | SMEMA compatability SMEMA is not just conveyor height. It also is Conveyor width, Edge Clearance, Tooling pins, Maximun Machine gap, and Lead in of conveyor. Additional, SMEMA is a machine communications Protocol for machine to machine or machine to conveyor communications link. Some of the older FUJI machines, for example, only cared about conveyor on/conveyor off instead of Up Stream/Down Stream, PCB waiting, Machine busy and different equipment states. Also, A fair amount of machines are sold ...

ATI Conveyor Smema Question

Jan 8, 2008 | ATI Conveyor Smema Question If the phone jacks have two conductors in them, I would wire them to standard SMEMA connectors so that the upstream side goes to the middle two SMEMA pins and downstream goes to the outermost two pins. If there are 4 conductors in the phone jacks, you will have to get out your tester and do some flagging of your sensors to see how to wire it so the signal acts as stated above ...

DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor

Jul 20, 2009 | DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor I’m having trouble with the transfer of one board from the UIC conveyor to a DEk screen printer. They are set up for SMEMA to SMEMA but the DEK keeps asking for a aboard when it already has one. Then it will ask for one every 5-8 seconds. DO I have a bad card in the dek or is there something I need to jumper in the connector? Thanks Dry heat

SMEMA to FUJI Interface

Mar 12, 2009 | SMEMA to FUJI Interface Hi everybody, Can anybody out there help me with this? I have a Jot conveour with SMEMA interface and and I need to "hook up" this to a Fuji conveour (CP6). SMEMA Configuration

Dec 4, 2008 | SMEMA Configuration Do a search here for SMEMA standards, I had problems a while back and had to swap some wires on an OEM's machine to get it to interface correctly to our equipment. Probably not the same problem as your having but I did write a long winded explination on how SMEMA is supposed to work ...

SMEMA Interface cables?

Jan 15, 2007 | SMEMA Interface cables? Hi, Does anyone know where to purchase the connectors? Specifically bulkhead connectors or PCB mount connectors. I am thinking about doing a general purpose SMEMA box that has a Basic Stamp in the core, and some buttons so I can use it for general purpose SMEMA control solutions. I want to be able to turn a normal conveyer into an inspection conveyor, or put a time delay so we don't get a board going into our oven until the last board has moved in far enough so we don't ...

Board take off on Heller

Jan 3, 2006 | Board take off on Heller We have a conveyor then a FIFO in the middle and a conveyor and a Mag loader at the end. If your oven doesn't have SMEMA (like ours) then you need to the conveyor before each. We trick these conveyors by shorting out the in coming SMEMA so they constantly run. That way they will accept the board, then use their exit SMEMA to transfer the board properly into the FIFO or Mag loader ...

SMEMA conveyor

Oct 16, 2005 | SMEMA conveyor I have a couple of questions about the SMEMA conveyor (standard 1.2); I posted the question to them but had no answer. SMEMA says: 5) Maximum gap. The maximum gap between the in-line machine track ends is 0.375 I would suppose this gap refers to the track ends of two separate conveyors, but how can these be spaced less than 0.375? This would require that the pulleys supporting the belt have an OD lower than 0.375. 6) Lead-in The minimum lead-in on the track ends of the ...

SMEMA compatability

Mar 29, 2004 | SMEMA compatability What is the importance of SMEMA compatability regarding height of the PCB during transport? Most machine manufacturers ignore this and simply give you blocks to put under the machine if you need them. My question is if all of your equipment was designed for 35" tranport height why would you conform to SMEMA height (37.5")? What is the standard for most conveyor manufacturers ...

SMEMA standards

Sep 18, 2002 | SMEMA standards Here is how smema works: Machine A has a board to give to machine B. Machine A has an opto or a relay that will turn on or close when it is ready to pass this board to machine B. This is the "board available from previous" signal, telling machine B, "Hey, I have a board for you when your ready for it!". How it works is inside machine B is an input with a pullup resistor on it. This signal is tied to the opto or the relay of machine A. When this opto or relay turns on or closes ...

Re: Big SMEMA Troubles :-(

Nov 3, 1998 | ... if you prefer, please e-mail. | | Thank you in advance. | | SMEMA is your friend! 1. Check to see if your SMEMA interface is software selectable (smema1,2, fuji, siemens). Sometimes the protocalls conflict between machines. You may have to experiment. 2. Break out your schematics. In order to transfer a PCB downstream. The downstream machine must have contact closure. This is called "not busy" You can verify your PCB sensors / smema interface is working if the PCB logic condition is met (conveyor ...

SMPI-->SMEMA

Jan 21, 2004 | SMPI-->SMEMA Hi Andreas. The SMPI is a proprietary Universal board transfer protocol. GSM platforms from about 1996 and newer have both SMEMA and SMPI. Although UIC later called it BPP1 (Board Pass Protocol) and BPP2, which is basically SMPI for lane-1 and SMPI for lane-2 in a dual lane environment. Even single lane machines still use BPP1. They keep the schematics of the conversion boxes pretty close to the hip since it is a propritary protocol. You may be able to find someone out there with ...

edge clearance for inline equipment

Oct 2, 2003 | edge clearance for inline equipment Brad- The Spec can be downloaded free from IPC at http://www.smema.org/smema1.2.pdf (or IPC.org search for SMEMA Standards). As per Conveyor edge clearance should be .187" or 4.7mm. Regards, Cal Communications Test Design, Inc. www.ctdi.com

SMEMA standards

Sep 18, 2002 | SMEMA standards I started writing a long winded explanation about SMEMA and realised that it is just as easy to write about this as it is to talk about it on the phone. It just so happens that I have recently gone through this process so I believe that your vendor is right in that his downstream (next in line) is supplying you with a shortcircuit across pins 1 and 2 to indicate to you that his machine is ready to receive a board. A plain old shortcircuit should be easier to deal with than an ...

SMEMA standards

Sep 18, 2002 | SMEMA standards Someone that makes conveyors just called me to argue about a smema problem we had with his conveyor and our machine. He caught me off guard and I wasn't the person that handled the problem so I stumbled through this initial conversation. Now that I was able to get some info I'm ready to call him back. Here's the senerio: Our machine uses opto couplers and his conveyor uses some kind of mechanical contacts, these contacts are not dependent on polarity while the opto is. He claims ...

DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor

Jul 25, 2009 | DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor Author: Jeff Subject: DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor Instead of using a conversion box just make your own cable. Look in the Dek manual, volume #2, chapter 18. It shows you how it's wired. Easy to make and looks allot cleaner than those conversion boxes. ********************************************************-** Jeff, Easy to make? /Mika

DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor

Jul 23, 2009 | DEK SMEMA to UIC Conveyor It isn't clear if it was working and stopped, or if this is the first time you've tried to make it work. If this is first try, need to confirm cards and cables on DEK, and what interface is configured on UIC. I have SMEMA cards in stock if needed. Pin-outs for cables easy. Confirm we're talking 265GS/LT/GSX. www.dekhead.com

SMEMA Interface cables?

Jan 8, 2007 | SMEMA Interface cables? Hi everyone! I need several Upstream & Downstream SMEMA Interface cables for the line I'm pulling together. Can anyone advise me on where to buy some pre-made cables or do I have to do them all myself? Thanx, bobruz rruszanowski@moog.com

Does anybody have description of signals (electrically) + waveforms + pin-layout + connectortype? THanks Regards bas.rottier@ipte.com

SMEMA Mechanical Interface

Jan 18, 2006 | SMEMA Mechanical Interface We are designing a new in-line inpsection station for PCBAs and I am a little confused about how to interpret two the Mech. Interface standards in SMEMA 1.2 (items 5 and 6). What is exactly meant by "maximum gap"? Does this get at the distance between adjoining conveyor belts or board transport mechanism (moving part) or non-moving extentions to conveyor rails? What is meant by lead-in? Is there a drawing or picture which indicates these dimensions? I have looked at ...

SMEMA conveyor

Oct 21, 2005 | SMEMA conveyor Exactly. Poor Olas is pulling his hair out over an issue that has no business being "standardized". The SMEMA guys with apparently way too much time on their hands couldn't simply stop at the communications protocol and leave it at that....they had to get into conveyor gaps and heights to boot. Little did they know that a guy on the other side of the world would get an ulcer taking all of it literally ...

SMEMA conveyor

Oct 20, 2005 | SMEMA conveyor You should not be worried about these points in the SMEMA standard. You need to make it work for your application. If you are running really small boards, keep the gap between conveyors and the lead-in as tight as you can. If you are using large panels, it will not matter as much. Example: if your panels are 12" long, you could probably live with a 3/4" gap between conveyors (not that you may want to). If your boards are 1" long, you will try to but them up so they almost touch ...

SMEMA compatability

Mar 30, 2004 | SMEMA compatability Thanks Cal, I'm aware of most of what you say. It seems that the height though is routinely ignored. You say 10"-15" of leg screws, surely the difference can't be that much. All of the Asian PnP machines I have specs on are 900mm +/- for transport height, about 50mm or 2" lower than SMEMA standard. Only the Siemens machines seem to go lower (down to 830mm). Is there a standard height for Asia (interested in China for example ...

Big SMEMA Troubles :-(

Nov 3, 1998 | Big SMEMA Troubles :-( SMTnetters: My UIC conveyors aren't working with my:

  • Omniflow 7 Reflow (Mfg 1/95)
  • Dek 265 GS
  • Philips CSM
What can I do? Does anyone have experience with connecting UIC or other conveyors to the above equipment? On the reflow I jumped terminals 1-3 at the P12 connector on Board 01. We have board width trouble there. The Dek is another mystery and we haven't even looked at the CSM (we expect the worst). One day lost due to SMEMA problem. Aaah!
SMEMA

Oct 20, 1999 | SMEMA We have a Yamazen PK-32E Magazine board Loader. It appears that at one time or another was connected with a Sanyo Pick & Place machine, which is a 24VDC system for SMEMA. I want to connect it to the DEK265 printer, which currently has an inspection system, connected down stream. The voltage of course is only 10VDC to 12. Any Ideas on how to change or make some type of gadget that will work with this type of set up. THX ...

Information requested

Jan 11, 2000 | ... I would like to request some information regarding the interfacing of SMT machines. i am of the understanding that it involves some interfaces like SMEMA 1.1,1.2 and SMPI. I would like to know more about the interfacing of machines using these different protocols. I am also of the understanding that there are certain boxes which do the SMPI to SMEMA conversions and so on. I am requesting some information on the various standards and the types of commercial converter boxes available for ...

smema

Jul 12, 2006 | smema I want to thank you for your help. after further investigation into the panasonic machine one our technicians was able to fix the issue. The panasonic machine uses a 5 volt signal and normal smema uses a 24 volt signal. To make these 2 machine talk to each other, panasonic has a convertor box that uses 2 4 pin molex connectors, then 1 smema connection to the new conveyor. the molex connectors were inside of the machine not labeled. we took the chance and tried using the connections and the ...
