I am looking for a machine that will allow us to mount a flat flexible strip (such as TennRich's B.Type) to a row of pads on a PCB. I have not much knowledge about the process, I guess I expect to see a machine with some hot bar. Can someone suggest a machine model or a brand , so I can focus on getting a quote for that kind of tooling? Also, it has to be applied to a RoHS assembly. I am wondering if cranking the heat a tad, on that machine, risks damaging the flat flexible cable (it is just a plastic membrane with conductors inside, after all)? Thank you for any input

The concept is sound but feel the system from Airline Hydraulics is a little more flexible. If you have a high degree of flexiblity on the manufacturing floor TA does not lend itself. I was at the TA facility and watched some build up of the board system. Airline Hydraulics has a system that is good for many styles and types of boards. i would look further before i purchase Cal self help

Marking is merely an etching process that removes layers of the PCB surface to create a color difference for readability. PROMATION offers CO2 For laser marking the mark quality is directly related to the PCB composition. If you want to guarantee a good mark every time and have control over the PCB being built (not always the case for contract Mfg) as the other responder stated, placing a white epoxy in the area to be marked will offer , Fiber and YAG lasers. CO2 is most common and the lowest cost. Fiber is very flexible and can also mark other material surfaces, but at a slightly higher price.

If you only have 1 or 2 trays of components and are on a tight budget, then you can even place the trays on the Y wagon behind the PCB so you can get away without the tray wagon. Also, I really recommend you get the Line Scan impressed with the Agillis for 12 and 16mm components, and we are selling our MYDATA and upgrading to other machines because of it. Overall the MYDATA works well for lower volumes, and is very flexible. It can even pick components out of tapes stuck to the tray or Y wagons, but it's also crappie when volumes increase, and you get a lot of problems, and we need to visually inspect every board we load before the oven. But for an entry level machine, I would get another if it was starting up and needed something cost effective, and flexible. You might want to check with MYDATA and if the machine you

Dec 29, 2006 | Flat flexible cable to PCB (RoHS assembly) , from what I can see, there is, indeed, a 2-sided adhesive strip on the PCB, but it is next to the contact area and it is apparently used to keep the cable from pulling the contacts off the PCB, by reducing any physical stress beyond that point. But I still don't see how the contacts themselves are physically attached to the pads on the PCB. The contacts must have been prepped (or plated) in order to be "soldered", I reckon. I just wonder what tooling will allow this to happen. Since that it is to be applied to a RoHS assembly, I also wonder if heat will not become an important variable

For trace this is not accurate ie trace a btach to a work order to couple of PCB not possible. This may have changed in latest JUKI offering but work checking. Like all the vendor softwares they tend to do minimum, and cover only smt area. A better more flexible factory wide scalable solution would be look at Valor MSS etc they can offer same basic offer as IPS with more bells and logically serialise your materials at incoming goods. This allows better traceability as well

Sep 28, 2001 | Just had a similar phenomenon 2 days ago. May relate to your issue --- or not. Like you, I did a once over looking for mechanical obstruction & couldn't find any. Ran a thermal profile on the offending PCB & all checked out. Looked in end of oven with flashlight where PCB exits reflow area (while PCBs were there) & noticed a thin fiber (barely visible) that had frayed from the flexible shroud that seperates the reflow and cooling area. It was dragging across parts while solder was molten & caused skewing & moving of parts off their pads. Trimmed the fiber & all was well. Check one more
