Alpha Advanced Materials, a MacDermid Performance Solutions Business, and a leader in providing global semiconductor packaging manufacturers with innovative, high performance materials, is seeking a Formulation Chemist for their Suwanee, GA Research & Development facility
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of this position is to conduct polymer formulation research and development focused on developing polymer materials and processes for the semiconductor packaging industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Sales and Marketing as required to develop new business propositions for customers.
• Create new ideas regarding alternative uses for developed materials.
• Search for new materials and develop products that will give AAM an advantage in the market place.
• Develop new ideas with customers for high volume use of polymer systems developed by AAM.
• Prepare appropriate charts for marketing/customer presentations.
• Recommend packaging solutions to meet existing and prospective customers’ current and future needs.
• Explore additives and fillers reactions and identify for encapsulation solutions.
• Lead and develop new formulations.
• Consult on formulation modifications for specific customer needs.
• Document findings and learning into Knowledge Bank for future reference to shorten product development cycle time.
• Share core competency of company with prospective and existing customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for this opportunity should possess a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, material science, polymer science, or chemical engineering with a minimum of four to six years of related experience in research and development. Prior experience polymer science within an R&D department desired. Candidate must be able to travel up to 20% of working time both domestically and internationally.
Preferred candidates will possess one or more of the following:
• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing methods.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of research and test equipment.
