Aculon, a rapidly growing San Diego-based, surface modification company is seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time role as Senior Business Development Applications Engineer (exact position and title to be determined based on experience and qualifications). This individual will manage business development for our coatings key accounts using a combination technical applications expertise and selling skills. Aculon works in many industries – electronics, consumer products, industrial, oil & gas and as such this individual will work globally across a wide range of industries and applications. Our technology is solution based i.e. No vacuum chambers needed!  We invite applications from individuals with Coatings application and business development experience.  Having experience in the Electronics industry is a must.

The position offers an outstanding opportunity for an individual who loves to travel, both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will travel approximately 75% of the time throughout the mainly in the United States & Asia, but also occasionally to Europe and Latin America.  This position can be headquarters or field based. Our preference is that you live in a major electronic center such as Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Orange County, and the like. A California base would be preferred, but not required.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Coatings Business Development and account management within OEMs, CEMs, & Electronics Manufacturers.  One of our products is a nanocoating for Stencils used in the SMT / PCB industry, experience in this segment is highly desired.  The ideal candidate will have outstanding knowledge of the electronics assembly market, customer base and key electronic supplier product offerings.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, fluent English language skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external relationships and to confidently negotiate at senior level with Corporate VP’s, Technical sales, managers, engineers and scientists.  Will be working on key accounts directly, not managing a team, hence need to be able thrive in a technical sales driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management of Key Aculon Accounts
  • Manage the pitch, qualification, sale, and execution of solutions for potential customers.
  • Will also work with potential customers to develop customized solutions.
  • Research and contact potential new customers.
  • Present Aculon’s capabilities to organizations and potential customers.
  • Establishing and maintaining close relationships with customers and their decision makers.
  • Maintain all information/account record and opportunities on Salesforce.com

Requirements:

  • Great positive attitude.

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Development in Coatings to the electronics industry (OEM’s, CEM’s).  Industry in other industries is also desirable but electronics is required.
  • Degree in related field to coatings, electronics.
  • Working knowledge of Chemistry (a plus)
  • Expertise in SMT, PCB Tech (desired)
  • Experience in a business-to-business sales role.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to identify and quantify financial impact of opportunities with limited data
  • Superior Knowledge and Experience utilizing Salesforce.com
  • Excellent communication skills for in-person, email, and phone meetings with potential clients.
  • General knowledge regarding coatings, electronics, and its components.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and google)
  • Ability to speak a foreign language such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, preferred
  • Intelligent, well-spoken, professional, friendly and courteous
  • Skilled at strategic and consultative sales process
  • Results oriented and able to work under pressure

Compensation:

Philosophy – We win as you win, hence we like to reward great performance over both the short and long term. The compensation package will have three components:

  1. Base Salary: Commensurate with Experience. Will vary based on your skills and experience.
  2. Incentive Compensation: Performance related pay and bonuses will be paid for winning business. A go-getter will earn substantially more.
  3. Equity: We will align your long term interest with our long term interest via stock based compensation.
