Description: The Quality Manager is responsible for setting up and maintaining the processes and controls for the assembly areas to assure the highest quality standards. This person must have a complete and thorough understanding of electronic assembly processes, equipment, and industry and ISO standards as they relate to electronic assembly. The Quality Manager is expected to be the primary leader in setting the tone for overall company quality and quality training. This person reports to the Director of Operations. Responsibilities: � Monitor and maintain controls over quality, production, workmanship standards, and equipment. � Monitor and review quality data and be able to coordinate the development of root cause analysis and subsequent corrective action implementation. � Exhibit intimate understanding of the following SMT processes: screen printing, stencil design, pick-and lace equipment and programming, reflowing and reflow profiling, AOI (automated optical inspection), Xray inspection. � Exhibit intimate understanding of the following wave soldering/post-wave processes: wave soldering, hand soldering, aqueous and manual wash processes, conformal coating, mechanical assembly. � Develop quality procedures and documentation controls necessary to maintain ISO registration. � Assist Purchasing and Engineering with component specifications and documentation, failure analysis and BOM structures. � Show proficiency with managing a comprehensive, closed-loop corrective action program. � Assist the Operations Manager in developing a Quality Plan for each employee, operation, work center, customer and product in order to surpass customer expectations and meet company metrics. � Anticipate quality issues through effective planning and communication; devise solutions; and take action in a timely manner. � Achieve operational goals and objectives set by the Company. Specific goals to include the following: test yields, inspection yields, RMA percent, process DPMOs, production rework hours, scrap costs, test fallout costs, SMT placements/hour. � Develop training programs in conjunction with production needs and customer requirements. � Develop written procedures for manufacturing and test processes to ensure all product specifications are met. � Interact and cooperate with a variety of people, exercising tact and discretion even under stressful circumstances, to resolve quality issues to the customer's satisfaction. Qualifications: � BS degree in Electrical Engineering. Masters degree a plus. � Seven to ten (7-10) years experience in electronics manufacturing, preferably within a CMS environment. � Minimum three (3) experience managing professional and production staff. � Strong background in SMT operations and applications, and in wave soldering/post-wave operations and applications. � Extensive experience in managing and maintaining documentation within an ISO-9001 environment. � Ability to develop and write procedures, process instructions and reports, and maintain process documentation. � Knowledge of electrical testing techniques and testing methodologies, including flying probe, ICT, and functional testing. Able to develop and present customized testing strategies. � Experience with DFx concepts and performing product DFMs and DFTs. � Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Black belt certification a plus. � Strong background working with quality data collection systems. Experience with quality data monitoring and reporting. Specific experience working with process yields, DPMO, Pareto analysis, SPC, data collection, and data integrity verification. � Familiarity with managing a company calibrations program and company training program. � Knowledge of RoHS, ISO-9001, AS9100 and ITAR. � Experience working with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
