Your role will significantly impact the level of quality and reliability of the mission critical end product. This company produces a variety of printed circuit board assemblies using advanced technologies including surface mount, through-hole, ball grid array, chip scale packaging and mixed technologies. The Component Engineer will examine Bill Of Material, consult engineering and purchasing and make recommendations on component ion and substitution and any necessary process changes or suggestions. Responsibilities: Evaluate bills of material for new customer orders. Assist quoting in locating nate sources for components, negotiate reduced lead times and improved pricing with component vendors. Provide engineering and purchasing with component substitution support. Assist in maintaining master component database. Process engineering changes. Assist in reviewing new component requests. Maintain accurate, current revision levels on engineering drawings and engineering manuals. Identify and resolve discrepancies to controlled documents (revision issues, missing supporting documents, etc.). Enter new Item Masters, Bills of Material (BOM) and Bills of Operations (BOO) as required. Identify irregularities and prepare exception report for appropriate departments (e.g., purchasing, production) and customer review. Initiate engineering changes as required by changes to customer drawings. Provide technical support to Engineering. Perform cost down activity. Requirements: BS Electrical Engineering or related field or combination of applicable experience and education. Three years of experience as a Component Technician/Engineer. Familiarity with electronic components and component part numbering. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of MS Access a plus. Must be PC literate. RELOCATION PROVIDED BY EMPLOYER
