Fiber Optic Engineer

In this position you will become part of a team that is aimed at developing new and advanced devices for the Optical Telecommunications Market. Based on Spectra-Physics� experience in lasers and semiconductor diode lasers, we are developing fiber lasers and Raman fiber lasers as pump sources for Erbium and Raman optical amplifiers and other applications. Part of your duties in this group will be to design and develop some of these devices, do detailed characterization and develop some of these devices into successful products. You will also be encouraged to come up with new ideas to strengthen the position of Spectra-Physics in the Telecom Market.

For this position we require more than three years experience in fiber optic communication systems. Experience in the design and evaluation of cladding pumped fiber lasers is required, as well as the use of these fiber lasers as pump sources for optical amplifiers. Experience in the design and characterization of optical amplifiers is also required. Experience in Telcordia (Bellcore) qualification of systems is desirable.

An MS or PhD in Engineering or Physics in a field related to fiber optics devices in the Telecom area is required. Send your resume
