IPC 7721 Operator Certification

IPC 7721 PCB Board Level Repair Training – Operator (CIS)

IPC's Board Level Repair training and Certification Program using the IPC-7721 document is the first formal training program from IPC specifically designed for board repair and modification at the operator level. This is IPC's most comprehensive, hands on training program with more than half of the course content spent in lab. This is an advanced course where the students will be evaluated on both lab and course work.

IPC-7721 Rework Operator Certification students receive IPC certification for the modules relating to the IPC-7721. This course utilizes lecture and practical application to teach the board repair and modification criteria of the IPC-7721 document. This class consists of the 4 rework modules of IPC-7721, including overview, printed wiring repair, laminate repair and conformal coatings.

The candidate will be taught and shown various skills necessary to perform rework at an advanced level. These include but are limited to the following:

    - Demonstrate pad and trace repair
    - Demonstrate laminate repair
    - Demonstrate repair of coating and solder mask
    - Demonstrate a variety of techniques for attaching jumper wires
    - Demonstrate the proper repair of plated through holes

The successful candidate will receive a IPC-7711/7721 specification and a rework circuit board kit.

Students will receive an IPC-7721 "Application Specialist (CIS)" certificate with an overall score of 70% or better, on classroom written exams and demonstrate acceptable soldering techniques using multiple trials.

Each candidate should be an advanced fine pitch solderer with at least a 5th grade level of English language knowledge.

    - IPC Certificate of Training
