IPC 7711/21 Instructor Certification

IPC�s Rework training and Certification Program using the IPC-7711 document is the first formal training program from IPC specifically designed for component rework at the operator level. This is IPC�s most comprehensive, hands on training program with more than half of the course content spent in lab. This is an advanced course where the students will be evaluated on both lab and course work.
IPC-7711 Rework Operator Certification students receive IPC certification for the modules relating to the IPC-7711. This course utilizes lecture and practical application to teach the rework criteria of the IPC-7711 document. This class consists of the 6 rework modules of IPC-7711, including overview, wire skills, through hole rework, SMT chip style rework, SOT and SOIC rework, and QFP and PLCC rework.
The candidate will be taught and shown various skills necessary to perform rework at an advanced level. These include but are limited to the following
Demonstrate recommended wire splicing techniques
Remove and replace Plated Through Hole components
Remove and replace Chip SMT components using a variety of methods
Remove and replace J-lead SMT components using a variety of methods
Remove and replace SOIC Gull Wing and SOT SMT components using a variety of methods
These methods will include vacuum extraction, component specific tips as well as bottom heater and hot air removal system.
The successful candidate will receive a IPC-7711/7721 specification and a rework circuit board kit.
Students will receive an IPC-7711 "Application Specialist (CIS)" certificate with an overall score of 70% or better, on classroom written exams and demonstrate acceptable soldering techniques using multiple trials.
Each candidate should be an advanced fine pitch solderer with at least a 5th grade level of English language knowledge.
