First of all ask your Suplliers to provide you SMD in Tape & reel, second point, you can ask Service for Tape & Reel or in case components are not so many, you could asses ef convenient to buy a sinple maual Tape & Ree machine and do it inside your factory. When components are in T&R very often it means better placement performance, better pick up rate, easier to load a Reel on Tape Feeder then a stick/tube on vibrators, no risck to have wrong component orientation inside same tube (ie. partial refill) or when empty tube is replaced, etc.

Tape feeder cost are ceaper then vibratory feeder and also calibration and maintenance is less required for tape feeders. Etc. On Fuji IP-2, alternative solution could be also to transfer SOIC-8 from tube into a customerized tray (?)but It will be a very riscky operation, you can get leads SO damaged during tray filling and refilling, wrong oriented parts inside tray cavities, etc. better forget this suggestion !!!!

We have been using Tape and Reel on our GSM for the SOIC-8 packages for a while, and it's working pretty well. Less operator error, less reloads, less jams (provided you take good care of the feeders) and LESS TUBES STUCK IN MY VCD SEQUENCER!!! I have a problem with people actually getting the tubes into the recepticle, they manage to get them stuck in my resistors...

But the operators still whine about the leftover tape. Oh well. It's WELL worth it.
