Q1)What is the MSD level for PCB? A1) There is none

Q2)I have some PCB's with HIC (humidity indicator card ) has turn to pink at 50%. Should I bake the PCB prior to assembly process. This fab is a complex board with various kind advance package assembled on the board. A2) You can. Search for recipes in the SMTnet Archives. If you are comfortable that you have at least 1 thou plating thickness, you should be fine to run without baking.

Thanks Dave, The surface finish is ENIG.Is it ok not to bake even though the HIC has changed color? What is the shelf life for ENIG boards?

I'm sorry for not being clear. The "1 thou" refers to the thickness of copper that rides below your ENIG.

If your HIC card is blue that's good. If it's some other color that makes you nervous, then you make of it what you will. They're pretty much meaningless to us. We keep reusing a coffee can full of them.

Beyond that, the "card is pink" has limited value without knowing more about the storage environment, packaging, time in storage, and what not.

The shelf life of your ENIG is probably around 6 months. For pretty good comparision of various solderability protection coatings, look here: http://www.twi.co.uk/j32k/unprotected/pdfs/6feb03_aw6.pdf

[We have no relationship, nor receive benefit from the company linked above.]

Finally, on baking your boards, no one really knows, we'd just be guessing. Why no reflow a pasted [no components] board, and make an evaluation?
