Stencil Inspection Equipment

We clean 40 - 50 stencils per day. I am having a problem with dry solder paste in some of the fine-pitch apertures. Manual inspection of every aperture is not feasible.

I have checked out the StencilScan inspection system advertised on the SMTNet. Does anybody know of any other systems that I can compare to the StencilScan system?

Thanks.

Kerry

Kerry,

Why don't you purchase a decent stencil cleaning system that will not leave behind dry solder paste rather than purchasing a machine to tell you how dirty your stencils are?

For less than the cost of a stencil inspection station, one can purchase a decent stencil cleaner!

Makers of stencil cleaning systems that will NOT leave behind dry solder paste are:

Aqueous Technologies aqueoustechnologies.com(that's us) Austin American http://www.aat-corp.com PMR http://www.pmrsystems.com/ EMC http://www.emcgti.com/ Technical Devices http://www.technicaldev.com/ Manncorp http://www.manncorp.net/

What a great question! I know of just a couple: http://www.scancad.com http://www.lpkfusa.com/products/product/smtstencil/index.htm They've been around for awhile and must have a proven track record. I don't know if there is any governmental agency that can certify their compliance to a specific regulation, but chances are we'll hear about one soon! And maybe the owners of these companies don't try to sell their business every few years and are committed to their customer relationships. Maybe the new system KerryN speaks of will force the buyer to purchase electricity from Smartsonic to keep it under warranty. I really don't know... KerryN, your reputation preceeds itself. But, then again, it did draw attention to a contradictory product line.

I know this is not the answer to your question but it may help until you get the right cleaning process in place. I have found that kneading the paste with 3-4 double strokes during the first print has aided in bring our defective ppm down somewhat. The continuous strokes seem to loosen up the dried paste and eventually push it out of the apertures.

Yes, KerryN is soooo clever. Posting her sales messages as if they were from an actual user. I think we should all go to SMTAI and ... umm say hi over at the Smartsonic booth.

Get drilled by the boxes along the edges, get drilled by her, maybe whats-his-name, what? oh yea Bill, can make her shut up.

Call me naive, but I was really hoping this was from a real source and on the up and up. I mean, I figured it HAD to be...no one is dumb enough to just add an initial and figure they're incognito, right???

What a marketing ploy. Build a machine, sell another one to clean up after it.

first try to get rid of the problem instead of cleaning. Try Almit V16L for finepitch (good experience!) no, I do not work for that company... assuming that the rest of your process is perfect and you do not use old paste, do not use the same paste over and over again,, what about the temperature and moisture? It might be wise to get your printer conditioned locally. What kind of stencils are you using? Nickel-formed is releasing smoothly do not use cheap stencils, especially regarding finepitch.

Naw, Bob is correct on two points: 1 If you search on Kerry* in the fine SMTnet Archives, you'll find all kinds of Smartsonic schilling. [And the absurd part is that all of our babble keeps Smartsonic up on the table. We would like to key Kerry's car, but it doesn't reflect poorly on Bill.] 2 Michael's post is spot on. Usually Kerry states something that is unsupportable and when someone calls her out on it, she doesn't respond.

OK, OK. Let's do a naivete check on Steven. 1 Steve, do you think that Sean D is pulling the same scam as Kerry? 2 On using an actual name in postings, do you think 'monkey' is monkey's given name?

Dave, you underestimate my cynicism. Still, how clueless does someone have to be to think that a move like that won't result in decreased sales and more damage to an already tarnished (OK, highly corroded) reputation? At least Sean occasionally ID's himself as a rep. I'd prefer they (plugs) not happen at all in the forum but at least in his case it's not fraudulent.

Wow.....ya leave for a few days without loggin on and see what happens? I can say I am honestly amused. Sorry, no scams here...one name, one guy......process comes first...point noted.

Never thought my name and Kerry's would be comparable in a conversation like this one.........

The one and only......Sean D.

Hello!

You are all so witty and extremely amusing. This is my first note in and, um, plug. I do have a system that is highly effective, environmentally-friendly and economical(cheap) for those of you who are interested. Also, yes, we do offer that wonderful paste previously mentioned.

Is this allowed?

Thank you.
