Climatic Controlled Facilities | 31 May, 1999

I have difficulty to convince my management to air-condition our manufacturing facilities. The room temperature fluxuates from 8 deg.C in the morning to 25 deg. C in the afternoon. The PCB topside temperatures in the reflow oven and wave soldering machine is all over the place. It is impossible for me to accurately controll the solder process. Can anybody recommend some white papers or writ-ups concerning this matter.

Check J-STD-001. Dave F

Excessive temperatures or humidity can affect the paste, as can minimal temperatures or humnidity. There are any number of documents that describe this, in SMT magazine, Quality Progress, etc, as well as JSTD and the old MIL specs.
