Juki / Zevatech 740 service manual | 11 June, 2016

Hello. We have a problem with our Juki 740 machine. It does not start at all, both monitors are blank. The only error we can see is "FAIL" LED on CPU board and red "LD2" LED on "AC SERVO BOARD".

Does anyone know what the "LD2" LED means? Or, even better, does anyone have a service manual for Juki 740 (or Zevatech 740) or similar unit.

Thanks, Martin.

hi martin, i can help with the manuals. I just got a 740 myself and am completely new to it all. Have been learning the machine over the last couple of weeks and have it now placing my board quite nicely. however, for all my 0603 resistors, it seems to be a bit hit and miss in it's placement, almost like they are bouncing off the board or something.

any ideas where I might be going wrong? I have put in the correct dimensions of the parts, let m eknow if you want access to the manuals! ;)

Hi! If You have manuals in PDF form, I would be very grateful if You could send them at: muzzybox(at)o2(dot)pl. Thanks.

Regarding Your problem with 0603 resistors - I'm not an expert when it comes to using this machine, but I think there could be a few things causing this problem. First of all - You wrote, that the resistors are "bouncing off" - do they leave a mark in the solder paste (they are pushed too hard into the PCB) or are they laying "freely" on top of the paste (dropped onto the PCB)? Either way, You could check these things: - properly setting up the support pins on push-up plate, so that the PCB isn't warped - checking the "component height" parameter - checking the nozzle that is placing those components, maybe it's stuck or have too much friction? - if You have calibration jig (a special, small aluminium block) You could run self-calibration procedure (maybe the Z-axis is slightly off?)

I know these "tips" are pretty generic, but I hope they'll help, even if just a little. Good luck!

Just for a future reference: we managed to fix our machine. The problem was related to hard disk drive, we had to replace HDD, expansion card for HDD and motherboard. They were all fried, probably due to some kind of voltage spike. The LEDs itself had nothing to do with the problem, they were still lit on working machine.
