Conventional Hand Assembly

We have for a time been collecting data, but unfortunately don't use it. The issue we have is with mainly missing items being found at inspection or un-soldered joints not being spotted.

I am wondering if anyone else in the same situation and NOT using an AOI as a comparator to improve conventional quality output?

Missing parts should be an easy fix. How many have to be inserted by hand? How do you inspect solder joints?

Why isn't the data that is collected being used? Either use the data or stop taking it.

Without AOI to improve your process you need to do this: 1. Collect data on all defects found by your inspection department and have it in a form such as a spreadsheet so that it can be easily sorted. 2. Whenever there is a defect found, put on your engineering hat and look at the defect to determine the root cause of the defect before it is fixed (reworked). 3. Improve your process in the area that you find trends in your root cause analysis. 4. Monitor your data over time to see how much it improved since process improvements were made.

You can't improve what you can't measure.
