QFNs in tubes. What is the best feeder to use for Juki? | 12 January, 2012

We are recieving many QFN's in Tubes instead of trays and tape. Does anyone have luck with these in a tube feeder, or vib plate? We cant justify to order a full reel because the cost of the part.

We have the same issues with QFN's on reels being cost prohibitive, so we also have to deal with tubes. We have had some luck with using a modified tube ran down (almost to the pick position) the channel of a belt feeder, assuming the QFN tube/channel are about the same width. Some shimming may be needed to support the tube and obviously the reciving end of the tube is elevated. This requires the operator to manually feed and work the IC's down the tube and does not always work as well as we would like. Sometimes thay just hand place. We do not have any vibratory feeders. Sorry, not much help but wanted to pass this along.
