DEK Vectorguard develops leak for 3rd time | 10 January, 2012

I was wondering if anyone else out there using the Vectorguard system by DEK has had problems with leaking air bladders. We started using a 29 x 29 frame about a year ago, and already, we've needed to send the frame back 3 times for repair due to internal air leaks. Max pressure we have used is 90 psi, but generally in the 75-85 psi range. We just purchased another spare so we're not dead in the water when we get a leak, but I'm wondering if this is normal "wear" or something else. Seems like it's too much pressure, but if so, what it the max pressure the frame can handle?

We have Vectorguard frames we've been using for about 6-8 months. We've seen no leakage on ours. The frame has written on it an operating pressure of 101.5-116.0 psi,our pressure is set a lot lower, 50-60 psi, as we also use another frame that can't take 100 psi. This pressure seems to work for us as far as clamp release.

We had same trouble with one (different mfg.). Sent it back 3 or 4 times for repair. Turned out to be a small burr in the machining on the internal parts that house the air bladder. Same thing happens if you have a burr on a bicycle tire rim. Tough to find but maybe something you could tell the folks who are trying to fix it.

Thanks for the replies. We have purchased a spare frame so if it happens again, we won't be stuck waiting for a repair. Good info about the burr that was causing a repeat leak- I will keep that in mind if it happens again.

You can buy the kit from DEK direct and it contains self assembly instructions, changed ours in under 15 mins - no need to send it back for repair.

Key for durability, is using the correct pressure!!!

Spend the extra 10 dollars and buy space saver frames. Problem solved.
