Fuji IP1 stopped CHECK FEEDER STATION 1 error - please help | 19 January, 2011

The user manual says:

Cause: A stick feeder part shuttle is in the advanced position where it could interfere with the nozzle.

Remedy: Press the [I/O] function key and retract the part shuttle.

I don't have a stick feeder. I tried resetting the IP1 and sent the PROPER, STATUS and PROGRAM to the machine. The machine starts and zero's all the axis OK but when I try to run the program I get the same error message. Removed the three VM1540 I/O cards. connectors and plugged them back in but still get the same error.

Can anyone help me or provide a hint as to where to go next?

Hi Bert,

Take all feeders off of the machine. Do a reset start (hold reset switch in while powering up the machine). This will flush the memory so you will need to load PROPER, STATUS, PROGRAM. If it still does it you may have a short in a feeder connector on the machine or a bad relay on I/O NO.2

If it clears it may be a problem on the connector of a feeder. Plug one feeder in at a time to see if it comes back.

Don't be surprised if it clears and you don't find a real problem. The memory on these get a little funny with age and seem to need flushing regularly.

Good Luck, Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Happy New Year.

Thanks for your suggestions. You were on the right track because I remembered that one of the last things that happened before the error message started showing up was that I cut and removed the empty tape from the back of the machine. Apparently I must have disturbed something.

When I put my head inside the back of the machine (upside down on my back) I saw a number of "dodgy" electrical connections where wires had been joined together with minimal insulation.

Fixing the dodgy connections caused the error message to disappear and the IP1 started working again.

Thanks for your continued help.
