MPM AP-20 z-tower falling/sliding down?

MPM AP-20 z-tower falling/sliding down? | 7 April, 2009

Hi All,

What causes the z tower to fall/slide down in this machine? There is a break at the bottom of the motor but the book says that it is for when the machine is off. It could happen at any moment. It sucks when it is in the middle of printing a board because the past goes thru the stencil and makes a mess. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I am assuming this machine has a tactile sensor that mounts to the printing table. If the air connection or any of the wire connectors get under the rear rail it will cause the Z to fall. Also any bare wires on the tactile sensor that touch the print table will cause this as well.

There is a tactile sensor and the air hose and wires do not look like they've been kept up. Is this falling of the Z normal in order to prevent damage to the wires/air hose?

Thanks

No it is not normal. The reason it is happening is because the Z motor is in an over current situation.

You need to fix the wires and get the connections out of the way.

Could be the z-axis driver card???

The Z axis is overloading. Could be a connector between the top of the table and the bottom of the rails, or a faulty motor, z-brake, or driver. Good luck!

I thought AP-25 was old. Good luck!
