We are curently using a SMTech AVP 300, which is an in-line semi-automatic printer. Within the next 6-12 months we will be looking to upgrade to a fully automatic printer.

I have already had a little look to see what is out there, and I am shocked at the prices, have I missed something or is 25-40 grand the norm?

I would also be grateful if anybody could suggest a make/model that would be worth investigating further...

Look into the up2000's and the AP25 printers of MPM. On the used market you should find them for approx. 20kusd. Just buy one that has a warranty. Harry

I second that with the used market. They are flooded with machines out there just look for the best deal and make sure your covered under a warranty.

For a decent automatic printer, you will pay 20k or more. If it's less, I wouldn't trust it. Still beats the price of a new one by alot.

The normal price for new printer like DEK ELA is about US$ 45K TO 55K Depending on the dealer. MPM would be higher.

China made printer is much cheaper and quality is almost the same as well known maker.

If you want second hand I would suggest MPM and DEK. These 2 company are in printer business for many years and has very good reputation for printing process.

Ouch, that hurts Harry. I think you just called me an ass.

Okay, I will revise...If you pay less than 15k I wouldn't trust it. Also, if buying used ask for warranty and tech support.

I do think MPM is better than DEK. Actually, I'm positive it is.

I think I found a way to get chris's blood pressure going. And you and I should add "If you did't buy from us" don't ask chris or I for free tech support. Do you agree Chris?

I would have to agree about the tech support. Although, I do find myself giving free support to people who bought from a competitor. I'll have to work on that.

And for your previous comment, you now owe me a beer or three.

Consider an Excerra printer. I currently use DEK printers, but also have a lot of experience with MPM printers too. 2nd user I wouldn't look beyond UP2000 or DEK Infinity. But I've also demo'd the Excerra recently and was very impressed, price isn't too scary either. If you want anymore info drop me a mail.
