I have performed research on the latest P&P equipment, and Mydata Company is among the best in terms of placement accuracy to within +/- 5 microns to be exact, and at 20,000 CPH rate outperforming players such as Fuji, Universal, and Panasonic. I will make this recommendation to my client. They are a small startup looking to fire up a high volume line.

Guru,

If you don't mind me asking . . . are you a paid consultant?

By MyData probably!

I personally recommend Mydata for small start-up companies with a high mix. I think they make a good first machine. But if you are going to do any volume, I would not recommend them.

And with placement machines, paper "research" isn't even close to sufficient for choosing a machine.

Mydata for high volume? With comments like that it is amazing you can convince anyone other than yourself you are a guru-expert.

Are you that guy on the infomercial selling the exercise equipment that makes workouts "easy"?

Guru sir, I to must agree with you. Many will argue that big names machines are better, but they are told what to believe. It is nice when big company take you out for a meal and drinks, but that does not mean your company needs to spend extra million dollars to buy they're machine!

My own research and theoretical systems modeling firm up my conclusions regarding MyData as the logical choice to optimally place electronics componentry to great economies of scale. I welcome any refutes to this conclusion in this competetive consultatancy landscape to which we belong.

Repeatability data please. Please provide source.

Can you provide the standard deviation and sample size please.

Does this data represent all major angles?

Was this data independently verified?

Was this data collected using glass parts or production parts?

I have machines that place glass parts to 2 microns. When you factor in the repeatability, the machine performs at +/-0.02 mm @4 sigma. Doesn't seem so great when you factor in repeatability.

It's kind of like that old saying, "Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut."

I hope your customer is more impressed than this group.

Hi,

Guru, you are completely full of crap. I have had three MYDATA machines, and battled with accuracy the whole time we had them. We did every upgrade, and added the latest feeders and line scan cameras.

In the end we could not keep the accuracy good enough, so I did some travel in Asia, and checked what consumer product manufacturers did, and found a lot used Fuji.

We purchased some Fuji XP series machines, that while were expensive, had a higher placement accuracy. We were shocked at how good they were, and we could see the difference, and the number of faults reduced dramatically. We also did not need to inspect before the reflow any longer.

So your full of crap, because I have the real data, and it cost me a lot of money when I had to sell off the MYDATA machines at a loss, after trying everything I could to make them faster and accurate. However for a small startup they are a good choice for simple low volume manufacturing because they are flexible, and easy to use.

But for accuracy, your completely wrong. With your corporate speak postings, you most likely have no idea what your doing, because I cannot see someone who speaks like you every actually touching a machine for yourself.

Have a look at a Fuji XP running, compared to a MYDATA, and you can just see the difference in the vision systems and servo systems.

Good luck with your guru'ing.

Regards

Grant

We have 2 Mydata machines. Accuracy is closer to 25microns at 3 sigma and you'll be lucky to get a quarter of the 20K placement rate. Their flexibility is their selling point and are prefectly suited for high mix - low/med volume. I wish your high volume client luck with your recommendation.

Grant,

I think this Guru has never set foot onto a production floor. He just looks at data from the machine manufacturer. As you have found out the hard way this data is not the full story.

I would suggest EuroPlacer equipment. We are a High mix Co and went through a studt of which P & P equipment to buy. It came down to Mydata and EuroPlacer. Hands down , bang for the buck and feeder capacity wise , Euro won. We now have 5 machines in total (3 lines) are are very happy with them. STP

Ken, It is much easier for this thing to leave the forum than back up its BS. I am sure we will get another Dr superstar very shortly. And a Mrs. Superstar to agree with it.
