All,

I continuosly have reliability issues when placing a SOT363 device.

I have Fuji CP6 and CP4 placement machines.

The part data has been analysed down to the finest detail but it is still hard to maintain any consistency.

Anyone else have similiar issues /offer advise?

What exactly is the reliability issues? Rejects? Missing components? Poor alignment?

We had a similar problem and needed to slow the cam speed. The surface of our component was rough so I suspect we did not get a good seal for the vacuum and the component was drifting on the nozzle after the camera. Jerry

I am not familiar with the sot363. Is it large enough that you could use a 4mm, 5mm, or 8mm O ring type nozzle? If it is large enough to use one of these nozzles the O ring is slightly compliant and the O ring material has a higher coefficent of friction and might keep the parts from slipping. If you think this might help contact me at http://www.nozzlesupply.com. I have all three tips on hand and could build nozzles for either the cp6 or cp4 in one day.

hi

we had also the same problem a time ago on the said package. we have taught his legs as 1, 3 and 5 instead of 1, 3 and 4 or 6. after doing this 98% problem solved. try this method...

Fred, I believe the body of the SOT363 is too small for that size nozzle.

That is a small part. What nozzle is normally used a 1.0 or 1.3mm.

We run Panasonic chipshooters, so our small nozzles are not cylindrical. We would use the smallest nozzle we have on our heads which I believe is a Panasonic "MF" size, the same nozzle we'd use for 0603 size components.

All,
