Help! Samsung CP45 and CP63 Problems | 11 October, 2005

Hi,

We just purchased the above two machines and they're still in the trial period.

We have problems with air requirements of the above two machines. For example, Samsung CP45 is listed at 8 CFM only, but it will kick off the compressor (rated at 25 CFM) every 20 seconds. No other machines were running at the time and we know that there is no leak. Similar problem for the CP63.

My question is:

1) Did anybody have similar problems with the above two machines? 2) Is it their inherent design problem or did they install the machines incorrectly (we're not sure if the technician really knows what he's doing)?

Basically we need to decide whether to keep the machines or not in a short time. Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!

Sean,

If the machines use more than the spec'd 8CFM, are not leaking and work fine otherwise, I wouldn't disqualify them on that basis alone.

You may be exceeding the duty cycle rating of your compressor and not necessarily the volume. If Samsung has a heart, they will understand your situation and allow time for you to remedy the problem. Stop the clock on your evaluation in effect.

Get a qualified facilities maintenance person versed in air supply systems to confirm or rule out your facility air supply as the source of the problem. At that point you'll know what to do - be it upgrading your compressor or putting the screws to Samsung.

How big a tank do you have at the compressor? Basically the bigger the better. You will still have the same duty cycle ratio but the compressor won't be cycling as fast. Hopefully someone here knows what a good size would be.

And when you say "kick off", you don't mean overload the compressor and shut it down do you? If you do, it could be the start up current for the cooling fan is too high and tripping a breaker.

I've seen this before and I would not be suprised if even years later the others involved still think it was an air volume issue.

Sean, I just installed a whole new comp room in our facility. 1, By kick off do you mean the comp goes into an idle mode,or shut down completely? If it just goes into an idle mode, this may be caused by your supply manifold being to small in diameter. 2. What size supply manifold are you using? 3. you may also want to check to see if the comps diferential settings are to close. (if your comp. has one). if you could supply some stats on your air setup we should be able to solve the problem.

Isn't it nice when someone has a problem that is replyed to by many and the original poster actually lets everyone know in the end what actually fixed the problem? It doesn't happen enough...so thanks to you Sean.
