Any suggestions on a good pick n place machine that can handle boards over 20 inches long?

What kind of volume? I've done boards that I think were longer on a standalone mydata. The boards hung over the end of the table and we had to leave the feeder bank to the right of the table empty. But later we did the same boards on a panasonic. I"m 90% sure the boards were over 20 inches.

Universal GSM1/2 go W18.000 x L20.000 depending on configuration. I have done boards as much as 22" long with some creativity. GSM1 runs about 4500 pph (approx. 2500 pph realistic) and GSM2 9000 pph (approx. 4000-5000 pph realistic). Cost used for GSM1 about 40 to 50K and GSM2??? - Not sure about $.

Expect to get a LOT of feeders & toy's for $40-50K as I've seen good GSM1's go for a lot less. In the US SMT Sales are a good source of used GSM's - http://www.smtsale.net

We are in no way linked to this company, nor benefit from them, however we will reccommend them as they have given us & customers of ours great service over the years.

Oh yeah, almost forgot - no where near as easy to use as a Mydata, but there's not a lot around that's more accurate.

Pick and place: * Fuji: The largest pcb size is 20" by 18" for pick and place; 18"x14" for chip shooters. * MYDATA has machines that can be configured to 34" X 44" X 0.500" * Fuji has the NP XL series that will allow 27 by 23 inch boards using a conveyor. * HSP 4796A and GSM1/2 can handle board size up to 14" x 18" and 18" x 20" * Yamaha YV100 with a modified base plate can do 610 x 620 mm [24x25]

Yea, we've bought lots of feeders from these guys and had good luck and response - they seem always able to meet a tight date and I think they will even rent feeders for special jobs if needed. (I have no affiliation with them).

Hi,

If you're thinking of a new machine and the volumes are not very high, I think Assembleon's OPAL XII should be the best fit. It can handle VERY LARGE boards upto 25.5" x 17" (with single pass) and 25.5" x 33.5" (with double pass). However for this the board loading has to be manual. For normal board sizes, the machine still works inline. Hope this suits.

FUJI NXT single lane can run up to 23"x21". SIEMENS HF can run up to 23"x21" as well. Now, what kind of production are you doing? I think that 20" boards are for mid to low volume, my thinking is that SIEMENS can do that if you can afford the cost, other wise get some GSM on the used market. And if you need machines running fast, my option is FUJI NXT.

I would only suggest this machine IF I were a Fuji salesman. The NXT will ALWAYS derate by over 40% for boards longer than 10"

mmh, good point, our current board is not that big, however, I'm wondering what is a common derate number on big boards?
