Circuit cam related software | 25 May, 2005

Hello,

I'm considering purchasing circuit cam at the facility I work at. I'm pretty familiar with circuit cam from a previous job and was wondering if anybody knows of any other similar types of software that can perform the same types of operations. Before the purchase I would like to explore all avenues if there are any others to explore. The two main functions I'm in search of are visual aids and placement data. Being able to compare BOM's would also be nice to have. Any feedback is appreciated.

Good Morning EB,

We too, are looking at a CAM system to accomodate these tasks. We have Unicam (Tecnomatix) 6.2 and are looking at Aegis (Circuit Cam), Valor, Sony TIMMS and Oracle. We have not made any conclusions as of yet. Unicam is strong as an NPI tool but their service is questionable. Aegis seems to have a lead for machine support and documentation. If you find something else comparable, I would be interested in hearing about it.

Good Luck

Chris

CircuitCam offers great support, a superb product and CheckPoint can handle the Bill of Material comparison tasking you asked about. Friendly staff, good training and I do not receive endorsements $$$$.

Just a good product.

I'm also looking at a CAM system for our NPI process, but want a system that scales up through data collection off the machines, and from our technicians. The Aegis suite of software looked awesome, but not at into a six-figure pricetag.

Aegis, yup, very pricy. We just signed a PO for CircuitCam, CheckPoint and Fusion. Expect to have it up and running within a month. Sorry, no use info, but will keep you informed.

Thanks for the responses. Like I said, I'm familiar with circuit cam and I already know what it can do. The problem is the pricing like some of the others have said. Have any of you used both circuit cam and any of the other softwares listed ( sony timms, valor, etc. ) . I'm interested to see if you think the others are comparable in capability as well as pricing. BTW- six-figure pricing is a lot higher than the quote I received, does that include on-site support for one year. ( just kidding )

We have switched from Uniscam due to support issues and their ablity to come out with a new USABLE version. We have been running it for close to 2 years now and we have been extremely happy with its performance and their support. Version 6.0 which is due out soon has everything that we could possibly need to run the factory in ONE platform.

The operators are extremely happy with the web-viewer and Aegis has worked with us to provide the automatic data collectors for our AOI and ICT machines for the Quality system.

Checkpoint gives us the abitly to control are documentation revisions and has an excellent tool for comparing BOM's including differences in the AVL if necessary.

Our customers are extremely happy with the control of our documentation as well as embedding their documentation in each assembly rev to control their files as well. We have been using the Xlink transmitter to monitor our pick and place equipment.

All in all we are extremely happy with the Fusion platform and we have seen exellent expansion of the software over the last two years.

Circuitcam and Checkpoint = YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

It was 1 hour from the time I received the software until the time I was using it. I compared 2 Bill of materials (1200 placements topside 274 bottom side) due to rev changes, created a visual aid package AND equipment programs for 4 pick and place machines and 1 adhesive machine in 4 hours.

Networking the software is so simple You do not have to be a computer science major or software savvy to make this work software on any Contract Manufacturing factory

as for support, I was a unicam user for over 15 years and dreaded calling for support When you are on a time schedule the last thing you need is a person giving you an issue log number then telling you someone will contact you when available. I cant wait I have lines down and product to build I need help now.

With AEGIS I get a real person and real help on the spot every time.

Your company can benefit from quoting to shipping with this software.

I have used Unicam and Cimbridge for over 15 years and know first hand nothing has made verifying and processing customer data easier NOTHING!

The software will give you return of investment quicker than you imagine. It starts paying for itself the first time you use it.

I will not work for a company that uses anyhting else.

OK Rob, got the message ... =;0]

Cheers, Base

(by the way: my 'Home Shopping channel' remark was inspired by the enthusiasm of the author, not by any experience with the software itself.)

Please also consider that Aegis also offers the Xtra-Net interaction software. I'm unaware if any of the other products offer this.

I had a problem with one job I was working on. I called Aegis, he connected to my computer directly while talking to me over the phone, and I watched him work as he found my problem. Doesn't get much easier than that.
