FMEA

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of setting up FMEA's for automotive customers? We have a batch to run for a customer and are looking into the FMEA's at the moment. It seems that the FMEA should be done each time a product is introduced, I think that we could do a separate FMEA for each process and attach these as a generic FMEA to the final PPAP package. Has anyone else had any experience of doing this and is it acceptable to automotive customers?

Your customer knows what's correct, but we'd expect a unique FMEA for each process used in the quality plan and control plans to mitigate issues identified in the FMEA.

davef is right, what we have done is that for every step in the flowchart we made a separate FMEA. Not only machine and process steps but also warehouse and product handling, identification, etc.

Thanks guys, thats pretty much what we have done as well, just wanted to check that it's ok to do it this way rather than do a full FMEA for a product. We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks when we hand in the PPAP.

cheers
