Hi. I try to decide in this moment what machine bye, Mydata o Assembleon (My12 or Emerald X(i)). In this moment we need to know the technical problems that has one or the other. Do you think that is neccessary have a mantenance contract or not?. Our prodution it very little and very changeover. For me it's very important to know this points, because the prices are very similar, and we need to decide in very fery days.

Same question here.

The Agilis feeders look like they would work great and be super fast to set up. We spend more time loading feeders than we do running machines. Do these feeders really work as good as Mydata says they do??

Hi,

The 8mm versions do change fast, but the 12 and 16mm versions jam all the time, and MYDATA has no fix for it, as apparently no one else is having that problem.

Hello, In my case, the time in change the feeders it's not priority. My production it's very changing, variable, and very little batchs, it's because I select this type of machine, but Assembleon says the same about their machines. What's beeter?, not only about the functionality, in the maintenance too.

Mydata is just about the easiest machine I have seen for looking after yourself & operating. There's nothing really wrong with the assemblion stuff, and it's been around a while under a variety of names but it's not as Billy & Jonny simple as a Mydata.

Just have a look at the archives and see what you come up with. There is a hell of a lot more trouble listed there on the Mydata stuff than there is on the Emerald or it's Topaz twin. User-friendlyness? The GUI on the NT-based Emerald (that would be the X2) is as intuitive as it can get, whereas Mydata is still doing the DOS-style on their Linux machines. Yes of course, there is a dedicated group of followers for the Mydata's so they must be good machines, but I would go for an Emerald or a Topaz.

No offence, but the Universal platform is hardly in the same league in terms of user friendlyness & ease of working on than a Mydata. However it does murder the Mydata in terms of accuracy, repeatability, longevity etc. & the Lightning head leaves the Hydra for cold. (We had 6 GSMs)

& from a previous post, regarding the number of issues listed for Mydata against Assemblion that may have something to do with the way the Mydata is built that encourages users to have a go, and also a great number of offline machines for smaller companies that can't always afford the manufacturers support. Granted, in previous dealings with Philips their support has always been excellent (Training courses in Eindhoven, demo machines etc) but that always comes at a cost smaller companies can't always bare.

How is the accuracy of the Mydata? I have heard if the vision codes are not just right it places parts all over the place. We need to do 0402's in volume on some boards.

None taken...but if you are comparing Mydata and Assembleon to Universal just because of ease of use you should probably not buy Universal. It's like buying a palm pilot vs a desktop computer. Close in price but one will do a lot more but you will need to know a little more to run the desktop.

We have My12 machines. The precision is 25mic. There is no problem with the accuracy. I assembled components 0201, QFN 20mils pitch /12 mils aperture, 0402 flip chips. Even if you have troubles with the video codes definition, mechanical centering could be used, which will not affect assembly precision.

Have alot of exp. on both mydata and philips/assembleon. My preference would be the assembleon. Maintenance is light and they run forever. New software on assembleon is excellant. Customer support is one of the best i have delt with.

I would like recommend you to go for assembleon becoz its very flexible machine. Very less maintenace and user friendlly software. I don't know about service support at your region. Please check..

Hi,

If you mechanically center, then you cannot use the HYDRA head, so you only place one 0201 at a time. That's not a great solution, so you need the MYDATA to be stable with vision. I think whichever machine has better vision would be the choice.

It's hard to say something is "better" than something else.

How is the Essemtec a better machine? Is it faster & more accurate for less money? Is it easier to maintain yourself? Does it have a greater install base and more service personnel per machine in the field? Does it run on on a 13amp plug & generate it's own air? Does Essemtec have a huge following on SMT net with many engineers on hand to offer free advice & experiences? Is it constantly & affordably uprgradeable? Are there many second user machines available?

I'm sure it's a great machine, but is it really "better" than the Mydata for the market the Mydata is targeted at?
