AIM NC 298 Solder Paste | 18 June, 2004

Does anyone have any experience using AIM NC298, or any new NC solder paste from AIM in general. I have no experience with AIM and would like to give them a try.

Thanks in advance JD

I would suggest first looking into whom your local distributor is for the Aim product line. Or for that matter any solder product Alpha, Kester etc. Does the distributor stock the product at all times? I find that alot of Manufacturers and their reps push the newer/latest greatest paste, be it no-clean or water soluble on to the customer. However the distributor may only stock the older version due to the fact that everyone buys that type. Thus if you enjoy the NC298 thats great, but if the distributor has to buy the product just for you, will they have fresh stock available at all times? What will your price be? If they are only selling you this latest greatest past, then expect a hefty cost. If you stick with the most popular No-Clean paste you will find that the distributor should have stock at all times and the price should be competitive. As for Aim products as a company. You don't get any better customer service from any other manufacturer. I have used all of them and find Aim to be the best.

Thanks a lot. Actually, you are our local rep for AIM. Do you offer any services such as coming down to RI to set up a profile or anything of that nature? We currently use AIM 256 and the wetting isnt as good as I would like to see.

Thanks JD
