Our old Trieber Wave Solder machine is needing it's conveyor chains to be cleaned. Does anyone out there have knowledge to share about dealing with this problem?

Sue,

Go to a local hardware store and get yourself some Castrol Super Clean. I think there is some stuff called Zep that works well also. A strong solution of powdered Tide and hot water will well too.

I have been running this machine for seven years and is the only machine I have ever run. I used to joke with my supervisor that someday they should get a new machine, but only if I could take classes in Tahiti. Well, the old machine just purrs along, tackling anything we throw at her and does an incredibe job. I've had the chance to see newer-better-computerized machines. They look fancy but have ten times the maintence. I kinda think that this machine will be here for a while, which is just fine with me.

Cleaning Wave Solder Conveyor Chains | 24 May, 2004

I have an alternative way for you guys to clean the chains on your wave solder machine. We currently use Oil Eaters (live bacteria). The bacteria attacks the oil and any other chemical making it easier to clean the chains. The product is environmentally safe and does not create a hazardous working environment.

We've used this method for several years now and the operators prefer it over the other method, which was the use of thinner.
