Hello Sam The problem that you have is the software in the cognex box has to match the soft ware in the computer. Also the 3 1/2 floppy reader in the cognex box is a special made unit. Not just any 3 1/2 reader will work. The way we fix most of these problem's is that we would have you send us the computer and the cognex box. We advise you to consider buying a new 486 industrial computer and sending us the cognex box. We feel our prices are very reasonable. Send us a e-mail and we will send a quote to you. All of our work and parts are fully warrantied. Mike most of the start up companies and a lot of the larger companies are not going to pay 6,000.00usd to register a machine with mpm, they simply can't afford to. But keep trying and we will keep doing our best to help the small companies that hasn't got that kind of money. Thanks for the praise Dean, I'm just a ex field service engineer that works day and night on MPM's. I've learned most of it simply on my own. I feel that the MPM equipment is accurate, dependable and reliable. But like every other machine they have to be occasionly rebuilt and up graded.

Valuems, Thanks for your advise. Do your company have the vision software for the cognex 2000 Version 3.5 or 3.7 on hand for sale? The machine not any problems only can not boot up the vision system with the floppy disk which is damaged. Please give a quotation if your company has it. Could i have your company e-mail address? Hello Sam Yes we have the software, but there are several things that we need to check on. First, what caused the software that you have to get damaged? If we put more software in the drive will that also get damaged? We need to know what software you are running in the computer at this time? I assume that this machine is a ap20 or a ap24? Do you have a 386 computer or a 486 computer? We normally answer the people with these problems at our e-mail address, but there are so many of the cognex 2000 problems. This may help some one else. Harry, Yes, the model is AP-20 and the computer is 386. I think the system disk was damaged by floppy driver that did not do the maintenance before reading the disk. I have do the test with the common disk that insert to the driver after do maintenance and it was not any damage now. i have bought the disks of version 4.1 and 4.Y but all of them can not boot up the system. So i think only version 3.5 or 3.7 can let the machine running. i would like you give me the quotation if you have the system disk on hand now. my e-mail is Sho@belfuse.com. Hello Sam We will send you a e-mail and try to explain the problem's that you have. The first one is the 386, it is not a reliable piece of equipment. It has out lived it life time. The next one is the software that MPM sells today ( 4.1y) for that machine will not load in that old 386 easily. The 5 1/4 reader has to be replaced with a 1.44mb reader, And then the cognex 2000 box is probably in bad need of a cleaning and the reader needs to be cleaned good and adjusted. And the new software for the cognex box is not written for the reader that you have in the cognex box. We have gotten several copies of the 4.1y software that is miss labled. There was 2 copies of the calibration disc in one and no option disc. The next one had 2 copies of the option disc and no calibration disc. As you can see the problems can be very time consuming and not to mention the aggravation. Hope this may help several people that has called us over the past few weeks. Harry
