Does anybody know something about how to place BNC's using a machine with this capability? Our designs have a lot of them....I appreciate your comments....

Hi,

What's the product, and how are they inserted? At 90 deg, or standing up? What brand connectors are you using?

Grant

We use MOLEX 73101-0040 (it's 90 deg.)Our products are audio and video interfaces. Right now we are inserting these connectors manually but it is very time consuming because some boards have more than 20 BNC's....

There is standard pick and place equipment such as the Assemblon (formerly Philips EMT) ACM Micro and AQ-1 that can easily handle your snap-fit through-hole BNC connectors, in addition to other surface mount components and through-hole odd form parts to improve your ROI. In fact, the company has extensive experience with snap-fit and leaded odd form devices. Moreover, the ACM Micro and AQ-1 incorporates several unique features to ensure leads are properly inserted and board lock pins are properly seated.

How are the connectors currently packaged for your manual assembly process - tape, tray, bulk, tube, etc? Packaging for automation will be important to cost-effectively automate your insertion process.
