Thin Chip resistors and HSP 4797 T12W8P

On the new 4797 T12W8P feeders we are having trouble picking the very thin chip resistors. Adding foam to the feeder (beneath the pick point) helps, but it only minimizes our frustration. Universal has a reel of these parts and they are looking into it for us, but I was wondering if you guys had found anything that seems to work consistently?

We have an HSP 4796, if the feeder mechanism is the same, this may help you a bit.

First make sure that the componet definition is right on the component library. Tape or Embossed.

Second, the component thickness vs actual thickness.

Is the pick up level set on the default value?

Clear the feeder B offset before production.

Are you using the right nozzle?

Sometimes the components, particularly on tape feeders, get stuck in the pocket, this may be happening to you if all of the above have been checked OK.

Please let us know.

Yes to all of the above with the exception of the part sticking. The same parts are EASILY picked using the 4790/91 feeders on a 4790/91 machine. The new feeders just flip the part out when the feeder advances.

Thanks! Lee
