AOI for SMT as well as Thru-Hole | 29 August, 2000

Hi All,

As fas as I have read about AOI systems they all talk of being used at POst paste printing, Pre reflow or post reflow stages. Is there any AOI equipment available/being used which can do the soldering inspection of a complete PCA for SMT as well as Thru-hole sodlering inspection.

Please Enlighten !!!

Look into OMRON AOI machines. We have several and use them post-reflow and post-wave.

Generally AOI machines find SMT inspection easier than Thru Hole. We manufacture a mchine desighned for mixed technology boards including large components (75mm high). Solder inspection is now possible at the post reflow stage.

Rick, Do you check both side of the board after wave? Can you check the orientation of components, missing of components and also the solder joint defects? We are also very interested in this type of machine. Thanks for the information.
