Hello Daniel !! You can use a stick vibrator for BGA on IP2 machine. Make a slider in the right shape, and put insert the BGA as a regular component. For the part data use only the contour of the component (ignore the balls). I can asure you that the plasment will be perfect.

good luck Avichai Ramot

Hi A better method wolud be to use a belt feeder the reason being the vibratory feeders tend to blow mfu signal ports I believe you can retrofit your machine to take the BGA also if the bga has no matrix pattern in the centre there is no reason why you cant pick and vision process from a tray.

Daniel, I think JOHN and Ramot have some good ideas but I guess I am a little confused. How have you placed BGA's or QFP's in the past. If you are just starting to place them and believe you will continue to in the future, you need to start looking into equipment needs( MTU? ). Vibratory and Stick are at best acceptable for BGA but what about QFP's. The handling required for these two options will take defect rates to a new level.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong!!!

Hello John, I'm also looking for options to place BGA's with center arrays on our IP2. You mentioned a belt feeder. Are you referring to a retrofit unit? I'm not aware of a belt feeder for the IP2, but would like to hear more about it. Thanks
