MYDATA TP9-UFP CORE DUMP ERRORS | 23 January, 1998

Has anyone experianced Core Dump errors with their MYDATA TP9? My machine (2/96) has 26 million placements and my operators have recorded 253 core dumps in 1996, 238 in 1997, and 18 in January of 1998. We run one job on the machine, period. Our previous TP9 never had an error of this type.

Get the specifics on your software version, specifics of the computer including BIOS and approach the Company who provided the UNIX system to Mydata. Hope this helps, Scott

Usually when we see core dumps it is due to some parameter (either TPSys or Unix) being incorrect. Mydata can usually troubleshoot this successfully. Sometimes a core dump can be caused by too many keystrokes at one time while it's trying to think. For example, when in the Edit Current Layout screen viewing a part with the camera, holding your finger on Page-Up or Page-Down. If we see a core dump more than once in a month, we treat it as abnormal. I'd look to Mydata to fix it. Good Luck. Bill

Re: MYDATA TP9-UFP CORE DUMP ERRORS | 13 February, 1998

Good morning, We presently have a TP18 and have also experienced the core-dumped fatal error. Everytime that it has happened is when the machine is automatically searching for the reference points, before it starts assembling. Mydata suggested to do a manual reference point search before going to assemble. Go ahead, and complete the assemble cycle. The next reference point search does not need to be done manually, allow the machine to do it as it does before it starts to assemble. Obviously, this does not work all the time. Mydata had to come in and re-install TPSYS, this did not seem to work either. Eventually the problem went away. Recently we had, three core-dumps but we were able to get out of them doing the manual search for reference points. I saved the machine status and will be giving this to Mydata to help them figure out what's causing this. Specially since this is a brand new machine!!
