technical stuff review | 30 May, 1998

This message is to Cunli and his great staff who keep us flying straight and level while reminding us always to keep our nose down in the turns. (can't keep from doing some of that pilot "s__t" Mav. I, I mean we, would like to post some tempters as an article or two. The first I recommend is something of a compilation of everything associated with assembly and the process management required to effect and assure quality. I have been invited to provide several articles concerning PCB dimensional stability and laminate integrity - revisited, PCB supplier evaluation and qualification through the supplier's laboratory, and an audit check list of all those things we keep forgetting and continue to keep bringin up on forums such as yours. The point of all this is simple. We keep going over the same stuff many times. I would like to see this continue, but in a way each contributor would contribute more based upon what has been learned herein. One example includes solder termination (SMT pad) area coatings to enhance placement and solderability. This subject continues as needed answers are repeated from the earliest time. Anyway, I would happily submit overviews of such articles so more of your people, and those not yet joined in, would actively take part in a more open, warm, objective forum where everyone's voice, opinions, and experience would be counted. Thank you, Earl Moon
