| | | Hello, | | | Some time ago before I was an engineer the company that I work for now made it a company policy to not allow hot air leveling for reasons that I do not know about yet. All I know that this policyt agreed with the MIL standards at the time, but the MIL standards have since changed to no longer prohibit hot-air leveling. I am a recent graduate and know nothing about hot-air leveling, but have been asked to evaluate its potential use since most of our board suppliers have indicated that 95%+ of their customers use this technique. So here are the questions. 1). What is hot-air leveling? 2). What is it used for? 3). What are the other methods for accomplishing this same end goal? 4). What are the pros and cons of these methods? 5). What are the relative costs of using each? 6). Where can I obtain information on these subjects? Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. | | John, | | I won't subject the rest of this forum's loyal contributors and viewers with more of my views on this one. | | I have sent you an email covering HASL and my position on it. | | Earl Moon | Earl: One too many "rants" on HASL for you to bear?? Dave F Dave, Is that nice? I was trying to be nice to all you folks, but no - plus it's so hard to be humble. Also, nice going on that chromattooograpphy thing. Earl
